Larry Seaquist writes and advises about the changing natures of peace and war in a disorderly world. Concerned that traditional security practices no longer serve, he focuses on rethinking security strategies and developing new techniques for conflict prevention. He chartered the non-profit Strategy Group to foster professionalism among peacebuilders, both civilian and military. A former US Navy warship captain and Pentagon strategist, he contributes essays to The Christian Science Monitor, is at work on a book, and serves as technical advisor to the TV limited series, THE GRID. On the national Board of Americans for UNESCO, he is a member of the International Institute of Strategic Studies and the Pacific Council on International Policy.

Deeply concerned about the state of political democracy in America, he is helping lead the Refreshing Democracy Project, a local citizen's project to reopen democracy's dialog. See www.RefreshingDemocracy.com.
